Dutch newspaper Telegraaf launches television channel
De Telegraaf announced yesterday that it wants to air a new television channel, ‘Wakker Nederland’. With its initiative De Telegraaf is the tenth commercial media company in a row wanting to take part in the Dutch public channels. De Telegraaf aims to counterbalance the existing news and news related programmes on the public television with content that will follow the newspaper’s vision. To be recognized as a public channel, the channel’s (financial) structure will however have to be completely independent from De Telegraaf’s.
Pieter Haasnoot, Director of Video Content for De Telegraaf Media Groep, will be at DNA2009 to explain the media strategy of the –original - ‘paper’ media company to generate a growth of 15% of its total annual return in 2009.
